An interesting discussion and workshop "Features of Mediation. Role of advocates in the mediation process" took place on March 23 in the Chamber of Advocates. The lecture was conducted by Mariam Mkrtichyan and Karine Poghosyan, licensed mediators and experts of the EU-funded "Consolidation of the Justice System in Armenia". The experts presented to the participants of the training the advantages of mediation compared to other dispute resolution methods.

 

The concept and the principles of mediation, as well as the stages of mediation, from the preparation for mediation, the opening stage to the exploration, conclusion of mediation. A special reference was made to the role of the advocates during the mediation, for which cases the mediation may be the most acceptable and convenient option. The participants analyzed the options, ethical-professional restrictions, and principles for effective protection of the interests of their clients in the mediation process.

 

The pending amendments to the legislation on mediation and a number of other related issues were also discussed with the advocates.
